App development and remote support for a new product line of IoT devices

With a new product line, updating devices should be made easy. To investigate how this could become a reality, we developed different prototypes to test whether a stable and secure connection could be established to the IoT devices over wifi and cellular. The results from the prototype showed a positive potential and led to a decision that the functionality should be expanded.

Based on the positive test results and endless possibilities with IoT technology it was decided that there should be developed a web platform for administration and remote servicing of the connected IoT devices and data integration from sensor data.

The platform was named Skylark Live, and was to enable Micro Technic's customers to send configurations, receive sensor data as well as status updates. Furthermore the platform should be able to alert for specific events, and monitor the performance of all connected devices in a simple user interface that the end-user could easily use.

With Skylark Live, Made This has developed the system architecture and software that enables Micro Technic to offer a complete "Plug & Play" solution with hardware and software that provides access to real-time data, monitoring and remote updates.

To make the connection between IoT device and Skylark Live as simple as possible, we have developed a native mobile app for both iOS and Android that can configure the IoT devices via NFC. The mobile app transfers the necessary information to the IoT devices, so that they are connected and configured to the customers own unique Skylark Live platform.
